Praça dos Leões

Praça dos Leões is steeped in local history. This square, in the heart of Fortaleza, is located adjacent to the Palácio da Luz. Originally a plain stretch of sand back when the Government of State occupied the palace, this square now features lush greenery, park benches, statues and a gazebo. The statue of General Tiburcio Antonio Ferreira de Sousa is most photographed by visitors to the park. The bandstand occasionally plays host to local musicians.
