There is a lot on offer especially for families with children: a large playground, water features, water sports such as wakeboarding and water skiing. A large lawn and a restaurant are additional features.
Gailtaler-Heimatmuseum is situated in a castle that belonged to the Georg Essl. It is notable for its three-floor dice shaped construction and reflects different architectural styles. This museum houses historical artifacts from the three surrounding valleys (Gailtal, Gitschtal and Lesachtal). After viewing the exhibits you can relax and enjoy coffee, ice cream or cold drinks at the museum cafe.
Home to a family friendly resort in East Tyrol is the Tristacher See or the Tristacher Lake in Austria. Being the only natural lake in the eastern region, this water body is a major summer outpost with families visiting the lake as a weekend getaway. Fishing is very popular in the reservoir due to high population of pike, tench, rudd, roach, carp, bream, and perch. The lake covers an area of 5.45 hectare (13.68 acres) and is surrounded on one side by dense forests with numerous walker trails.
Alpenwildpark Feld am See lets you get up close with a bunch of exotic animals from around the world. Home to over 30 species of wild animals, this is where you can observe some of natures most beautiful creatures get on with their lives. At the animal center, the zoo's team of experts hand out intriguing information on the animal's characteristics and the species' history. Apart from the jeep ride through the enclosure, one can also visit the African-themed exhibition space, where life-sized specimens of African's native wildlife are on display.
Klauber Park in Seeboden provides a beautiful backdrop for the many festivals that are held there every year. It is surrounded by the great Lake Millstatt.
