St. Mary's College

Visit the abandoned grounds of St. Mary’s College. Tucked inside the woods near Ellicott city, these ruins mark as one of the unique attractions in the city. Built in the 1860s, the Roman Catholic college is known to be a big campus with Italian Renaissance-style buildings and a chapel. Today, all that is left are the decaying ruins and haunting alter. Locally known as Ellicott City Hell House, visitors can hike and explore the eerie setting.

Daniels

Formerly known as Elysville, Daniels was once a prosperous town founded by Thomas Ely and his family. Situated on the banks of the Patapsco River in Maryland, the development of this town started in 1810 with the establishment of a textile mill, and slowly a small town popped around the mill with schools, churches, shops, and a rail station. But the town’s success was short-lived, and the mill closed down in the 1960s, forcing many families to leave. Soon in 1972, disaster struck again, and the tropical storm Agnes tore through the entire town, flooding and destroying the entire town leaving it completely abandoned. Today, Daniels is a ghost town full of ruins telling stories of the decaying wooden structures, dilapidated buildings, and churches. Visitors can see weeds covering the entire town, indicating the ghost town will soon fade into a forest.
