Mineral Museum

Located in the historic mining city of Butte, Mineral Museum in Montana Tech campus is a must-visit attraction. It is one of the most amazing attractions that boast remarkable collections and exhibits. The museum features the finest minerals and rocks one can find from the earth and outer space. Founded in the early 1900s, the museum started with 200 specimens. Today, the museum houses incredible displays ranging from around 1300 mineral products to fluorescent minerals, engaging displays retelling stories of the local mining history. The museum's highlight is the 27.5-ounce nugget in gold. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.

The Granite Mountain Speculator Mine Memorial

When in the historic mining town of Butte, one cannot miss the Granite Mountain Speculator Mine Memorial. This memorial park is an impressive monument commemorating the tragic disaster that took place in the mines on June 8, 1917. The open-air plaza can be visited by the public, where there can read notes written by the miners and listen to the audio guide retelling the history. The site also offers fantastic vistas.


Often referred to as "The Richest Hill on Earth", Butte used to attract migrants from as far as Ireland, Lebanon, Croatia and China. Its residential districts were interlaced with mining industries in copper, silver and gold thus attracting labor aplenty. The result was a burgeoning red-light industry that the city has often been associated with. Present-day Butte boasts numerous heritage factories, brick hotels, old buildings and attractions such as the country's longest ever running brothel - the Dumas Brothel. Also stop by the Mai Wah Museum, the Berkeley Pit, the Venus Alley and Our Lady of the Rockies Statue.


Th county seat of Deer Lodge County, Anaconda is a quaint settlement that is a mélange of wonderful experiences. The town is located close to a number of lakes including Georgetown Lake, Echo Lake, and Silver Lake, making it an ideal destination for outdoor activities like fishing, boating and hiking, along with other activities like biking, wildlife viewing, golfing and skiing. The Copper Village Museum & Art is an ideal attraction for history and culture buffs, featuring unique exhibits, local archives and retail gift shop.
