Hello Dolly is a unique jazz club in Ponto-chō, the nightlife region of the Japanese city of Kyoto. It is open from 6p to 1a all through the week. It is well known for the live musicians that play there on Friday and Saturdays, as well as its view of the Kamo River. The décor is appropriately retro with velvet chairs and album covers as decoration. Jazz lovers love the records played here and also that it has retained its old-fashioned look in a fast-changing world.

Bar Calvador is a one of a kind bar in the city of Kyota. Calvador is a French drink made from apples. The owner and manager Hiroyuki Takayama has the largest and most intense collection of calvados with some bottles that even date back to the 1800s. Not surprisingly calvados are the main liqueur served, however if they are not to your taste, you can order something else. The gastro-pub and microbrewery is relatively expensive but definitely a must-experience.

One of the more veteran bars, Bar K6 has been around for two decades on Kyoto's nocturnal scene. Serving a few local craft beers and some creative cocktails, the bar is most known for its collection of a staggering 600 single malts. Whiskey lovers can rejoice and throw back their preferred single malt, while the rest can munch on some delicious Scottish fare, such as the haggis pizza, for starters.
