Located in Copperstown, it is actually a part of farm that was later developed into a museum. It makes an attempt to recreate the nineteenth century complete with ancient buildings, tavern, a local store, hand-made carousel and many other fun exhibits. The collection at this museum features more than 20000 objects comprising working tools, equipments, daily use objects. A visit to this spacious museum makes for an interesting and educational tour.
The Benjamin D. North House is a historic home that has adapted the Federal style of architecture. Included in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, this lovely mansion features fireplaces, a cozy kitchen and even a wine room.
A unique museum, located on the highway, The Petrified Creatures Museum of Natural History is one of the major attractions in the city. The museum houses life size structures of dinosaurs and lizards. Established in 1934, the museum has several concrete structures to marvel at- each of the dinosaur is brightly painted in neon shades so, you cannot miss a single one on your tour. Visitors can head to the digging pit and enjoy fossil excavation in the ditch. There are several prehistoric stones at the site as well. There is a souvenir shop on-site from where visitors can buy marked fossils and other merchandise.
Oneonta Armory was located in a majestic structure reminiscent of a castle. The edifice was made from brick and stone based on George L. Heins’s design. Currently, the erstwhile armory hosts community events.
