Inaugurated in 1982, The Mazza Museum is an interesting museum housing over 10,000 endearing illustrations from picture books. When the Findlay College turned 100, Dr. Jerry Mallett envisioned this dream as a special gift to the college and the community. A place where families can come to explore various original works of celebrated artists like Steven Kellogg, Ted Rand, Eric CarleTomie dePaola and many more, The Mazza Museum is a child's dream come true. From cartoon to folk art eclectic styles are represented through colors, photos and graphics here thus making the museum an academy for budding artists wanting to embrace children's literature as a genre.
The park is a great place to appreciate the history and culture of the region, besides offering a range of fun, interactive activities for the whole family. You'll find plenty to keep you busy, from exploring the 110 acre (44 hectares) property with its woodlands and meadows to picnic sites, an Activity Barn, 1847 McKinnis Homestead and 19th century period garden.
Marathon Center For The Performing Arts is one of the most popular performing arts facilities in the thriving cultural scene of the city and offers a rich, diverse cultural programme. It launched its inaugural production in 2015 and has continued showcasing quality content since. Apart from plays, the center has a vibrant roster of events from concerts and musicals to variety shows. Its state-of-the-art theater can host 960 people and is also utilized for other purposes like meetings, corporate and private events.
Visit the Hancock Historical Museum to learn more about the Hancock County. The museum has a collection of historic houses that have been moved from all the parts of the county to the museum site. This includes structures like the Crawford Log House, the Davis Homestead and De-Wald Funk House, Hull/Flater House. Participate in the various events that are organised by the organisation to get to know about the community. The museum also has a little gift shop where you can purchase a souvenir as a remembrance of your visit. They also conduct school programs to educate the students about the history of the Hancock County.
The Oakwoods Nature Preserve offers a range of fun outdoor activities for the entire family. Spread out over 227 acres (91 hectares), the property features a Discovery Center for kids, two lakes, Shank Lake and Dold Lake, with fishing and boating, Butterfly gardens, hiking trails and wildlife discovery opportunities.
This public park features good facilities for sports and recreation, including fields for softball, soccer and baseball. Picnic shelters are located on the property.
A small-scale operation, Findlay Brewing Company is a local craft brewery located in Findlay. The brewery produces a nice selection of brews like the Black IPA, Imperial IPA, LaMarr’s Molasses Porter, Sweet Amber Ale and American Bitter amongst others. The brewery taproom is open for visit from 5p to 10p on Fridays and features a casual, relaxed atmosphere to mingle with fellow beer enthusiasts and sample signature brews.
Located along the Blanchard River, this local park is a part of the Blanchard River Greenway. Visitors can enjoy a scenic walk along the pedestrian bridge that crosses the river from Anchor Park to Civitan Park.
Swale Park is a public park managed by the city. The park offers recreational facilities like four baseball fields for major and minor leagues. The University of Findlay practices baseball and soccer on these grounds.
