The most celebrated American painter and illustrator - Norman Rockwell, has a museum dedicated to his work in Stockbridge. Known to house one of the largest collections of Norman Rockwell works in the world, the museum is a must-visit attraction when in town. Some noteworthy exhibits include are Rockwell's famous Saturday Evening Post cover art and other well-known works like Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas. This museum tries to convey the classic American spirit and the spirit of the American Dream through this beloved artist's work. Apart from Rockwell's work, the museum also features other special illustration exhibitions.

Dating back to 1905, the Mahaiwe is one of the oldest theaters in the country. The Mahaiwe operates all year long, featuring events such as the Metropolitan Opera “Live in HD” programs, classic movie screenings and live performances by the Berkshire Opera, as well as other music, dance and theater performances.

Chesterwood, located in Stockbridge, is the former summer home of the famed sculptor Daniel Chester French. Best known for his sculpture featured at Washington's Lincoln Memorial, Chester French also carved a bust of Ralph Waldo Emerson and contributed to his works for the Russell Alger Memorial, the Manhattan Bridge, and the Boston Public Library. He died at Chesterwood on October 7, 1931, and the house has since been turned into a museum and historical site. Chesterwood is managed by National Trust for Historic Preservation and is open to visitors from May to October.

In the late 19th Century, noted attorney Joseph Choate had an architectural firm design his dream "cottage" for his family's summer retreats. A 44 room country estate - Naumkeag was created with a Gilded Age style offering a panoramic view. You can tour the house and admire the antique decor and period pieces.
