Blindspot Gallery is located near Hollywood Road, Central, just next to the famous bar street Lan Kwai Fong. As the name of the gallery explains, this gallery aims to popularize contemporary avant-garde Chinese photography, a great treasure that is often overlooked in today's art market. Blindspot's collection is mainly from Chinese photographers, but in recent years works of western photographers have also been introduced. All pieces of art here express the spirit of freedom, justice and hope. If visitors want to feel the power of the camera, Blindspot Gallery will not be a disappointment.
Located in the heart of Central, surrounded by the busiest financial district in Hong Kong, Ben Brown is a place of elegance on the third floor of the Pedder Building. As one of the three branches of Ben Brown Fine Arts, Ben Brown Hong Kong is just like the other two branches in keeping with its tradition of introducing Western fine arts to Hong Kong artists. This gallery gathers works of world famous artists, hosting exhibitions for them several times a week. Ben Brown is a classic gallery for fine art lovers!
The Cat Street Gallery is committed to exhibiting the best of international contemporary and modern art by both established and emerging artists. The Cat Street Gallery opened in November 2006 in it's first home in Cat Street with a group show of Australian artists including David Bromley and recent Archibald Prize winner Guy Maestri and held various exhibitions before moving to 222 Hollywood Road in February 2008. The Cat Street Gallery is a bit different. Nestling amidst the cold store meat packers and coffin shops of downtown Hollywood Road. Vibrant, edgy and mercurial, it is a gallery that likes to make a noise.
The Take Out Comedy Club is the first full-time comedy club in Hong Kong and provides an alternative mode of entertainment in a city that is populated with numerous bars, clubs and restaurants. The Take Out Comedy Club is the brainchild of former New Yorker Jami Gong, and offers shows in English and Cantonese by several local comedians. Featured showstoppers include the Karma Komdians, who are a band of Hong Kong-born Indian comedians, and the People's Liberation Improv, which is Hong Kong's largest performing improvised comedy troupe. The club periodically also features international stars like Paul Ogata, who was voted San Francisco's funniest comedian in 2007. -Anjeeta Nayar
