Khon's Bar

Located in the Midtown, Khon's is the perfect after-work hangout. They serve beer, wine, and coffee in a laid-back atmosphere. It's a great spot to go for a quiet night with a few friends. They have plenty of surprising drinks in stock from all over the world. Take a load off and play darts while shooting the breeze with the friendly bartenders, or sit and enjoy an eye-opening coffee while finishing up some work.

Pappas Brothers Steakhouse

Pappas Brothers Steakhouse is just one of the many Pappas restaurants that prevail in Houston. The cuisine this family seems to have spells success. Soft lighting and 1920s brass-rimmed decor give this Galleria-area favorite a sense of class and style. The old-fashioned phones located in every booth are real and never fail to stimulate conversation. Live entertainment further ensures a memorable evening. The menu is steak-heavy, but alternate seafood selections are available. Menu prices are a steal for very high quality food. Wines to quench your thirst are available too.

The Capital Grille

From the U.S. eagle emblem in the lobby to the two giant lion sculptures that guard the entrance, everything at Capital Grille is done BIG. The overall effect comes across as somewhat "macho," but it is an unusual experience that will inspire repeat conversations well into the future. Speaking of big, think sinking your teeth into a towering 14 ounce filet mignon that is complemented by a one pound baked potato and a massive side dish of vegetables. The menu is pricey, but with portions in these sizes, you can always share. A glass of house wine is available too.

Caracol

Caracol is an awe-inspiring restaurant that is famous for blending the fresh taste of sea food with complex Mexican flavors. Located in uptown Houston, this lively little restaurant seems to be catching up with foodies in this city. Chef Hugo Ortega and Tracy Vaught put their culinary expertise on offer to create an eclectic menu that will please everyone's taste buds. Petalos de Huachinango, which is the red snapper with tangerine, and Coctel de Pulpo Almendrado, which is the Spanish octopus with almond, green olive, and caper, are some of the delicacies that absolutely do justice to Mexican flavors and seafood. Reserve a table to have a quiet meal with family or friends.

Giacomo's Cibo e Vino

For those who enjoy Italian delicacies, Giacomo's Cibo e Vino is a must-visit offbeat culinary destination in Houston. This quirky, neighborhood eatery doles out an array of scrumptious Italian small plates. Here one can choose from myriad hot and cold antipasti or even mix and match to devour a sublime meal. The restaurant takes pride in its use of the best local and imported ingredients, which add to the authentic flavor of the meals. When visiting, do ask the courteous staff for wine pairings to go with your meal.

Da Marco Cucina E Vino

Da Marco Cucina E Vino is named after the owner and Chef Marco Wiles, who received his training from his Italian mother, as well as from his cooking experiences in other Houston Italian restaurants. The originality of his dishes makes this a great dining experience for any Italian food lover. This place prides itself for offering authentic Italian cuisine. The décor is bright and comfortable with tones of yellow in the walls and wood floors. The pasta is made in-house from imported ingredients. Specialties include octopus salad, venison fettuccine and lamb chops. An all-Italian wine list is offered to add flavor to any entrée. The Zuppa Inglese, a brandy-soaked cake, is a must for dessert.
