The pub takes its name from a local Kilkenny woman, Dame Alice Kyteler, who married four times and was convicted of practicing witchcraft in the same year. Tastefully restored, the pub's traditional interior with timber floors, wooden tables and an open fire makes for an excellent atmosphere. The Irish stew comes highly recommended.

The food served is wholesome, rich in flavors and above all reasonable priced. Meals can be accompanied with beer. Enjoy a complimentary ice-cream after the meals.
This unpretentious coffee shop is within five minutes' walk of the train station and is a good spot for the traveler to rest and refuel. Grills, breakfast sandwiches, steak sandwiches and even roast beef dinners are all available. You might even take a bed for the night upstairs in their B&B, which is quite reasonably priced.
First established in the 1850s, Matt the Miller is a traditional pub overlooking the River Nore. It attracts a diverse range of patrons, although currently, it serves Kilkenny's younger set. The upstairs bar is particularly lively over the weekends, with an emphasis on traditional and rock music, while the downstairs is a little more sedate; its timeless wooden interior is the perfect place to nurse a quiet pint.
