Set on a gentle knoll and wrapped by endless fields of manicured vineyards, the impressive Castle of Aigle is located in the heart of the Chablais Vaudois. It was built in the 12th Century, was later owned by the Government of Bern and houses a restaurant and museums. The Vine and Wine Museum showcases used over the years in wine-making. Interactive exhibits also show how wine is made. There is also the Wine Label Museum with wine labels collected from various countries, dating from the early 19th Century to the mid-20th Century. With strong roots in the local wine industry, the wines produced here are acclaimed as some of the best in Switzerland.
Perched atop a small hill with the mighty Swiss Alps in the background, the Gruyères Castle forms a picturesque fairytale like image. Built in the late 13th Century, the castle has been passed down through a number of noble families but has been remarkably well preserved throughout all these years. A Swiss heritage site today, it attracts a number of visitors every year due to its rich historical heritage and beautifully manicured hedge gardens. Today it is home to an art museum with paintings by notable artists like Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Barthélemy Menn and many others. A number of temporary exhibitions, cultural events and music festivals are also regularly organized at its premises.
Gorges de la Jogne is a nature trail in Broc, Switzerland. This over 10 mile (16 kilometer) trail is fun to explore with family, friends or all by yourself, enjoying nature and spotting the local flora and fauna. The trail is exciting with tunnels, footbridges and even stairs leading to the dam, from where the view is spectacular.
