To understand more about the history surrounding the city visit the Auburn Historical Museum. It is now under the ownership of the Auburn Historical Society since the end of the 20th Century. Built in the year 1922 to serve the local children as a school called the Turtle Square School it was constructed in the Bungalow style of architecture. It operated a school for the next 10 year and later was used a hospital during the second world war. Post the war it operated as a school until the year 1953 and later in the 21st Century it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Visit the Rider's Tavern, a stop over for travellers during the earlier centuries. It was built in the year 1797 in the Federal style of architecture. The wood frame building is now owned and operated by the Charlton Historical Society who keep the house open to the public during the summer months as well as other special occasions. It is listed on the U.S National Register of Historic Places as well as U.S Historic District Contributing Property.
Nestled within the sprawling campus of Atlantic Union College, the Founder's Hall was built way back in 1883. It is a fine example of the Gothic-Queen Anne style of architectural design. In 1980, this historic structure featured in the National Register of Historic Places.
The Ethan Allen House and Gun Shop is a red brick Greek Revival structure. This house was the manufacturer of guns and introduced single shot pistols, and the pocket rifles and several other guns. The technology of these guns had varied from the time it had started to the time in began growing the market. This house is a great visit place as it offers the great view of the gun shop. This place was added as the National Historical Site in 1995.
