The Morgan Arboretum, located within the Macdonald Campus of McGill University, covers a reserved land of approximate 245 hectares (610 acres). Serving multiple purposes of recreation, academic education and conservation, the arboretum is known to house many different kinds of flora and fauna, including over 150 species of birds, of which about 100 are bred within the reserve itself. The Morgan Arboretum is also famous for producing maple syrup using traditional methods and techniques, which is commenced in spring after a formal, social sugaring off event.
