At the Stiles African American Heritage Center in Five Point, get acquainted with the history and culture of the African American community. Straight out of a movie with snow capped mountains, narrow, winding roads, the Mount Evans Scenic Byway is truly a drive to behold. Stretching over 28 miles (32 kilometer), this byway is considered to be the most paved road in North America. It stands above 14,000 feet (4267 meter) with a climb of more than 7,000 feet (2133 meter). This splendid roadway that begins at Idaho Springs and ends at the summit of Mount Evans, is not open year round.The best time to visit is between June and September, with vehicle size restrictions due to road and weather conditions. Given that Colorado is famous for its state parks, so you can enjoy a fun picnic, or go fishing and camping. An alluring drive through the byway makes the whole trip worthwhile.
