Built in 1925, St. Lucy's Church was established to serve the city's Italian diaspora. The brick and stone building was constructed in the Romanesque style of architecture, but the real treasures can be found in the church interiors. The Old Broadway Synagogue was established in the year 1923 by a Polish immigrant. Harlem had a major concentration of Jews during those times and the Broadway Synagogue became a place where the community could come together. It is a vernacular style building that also features on the National Register of Historic Places. The synagogue's late rabbi, Jacob Kret, who was a witness to the partition of Poland, served the synagogue from 1950 till 1997, today it is run by veteran as well as young custodians of the Jewish faith.
The New Utrecht Reformed Church is a historic church which dates back to the 17th century. Established in 1677, the church is considered to be one of the oldest existing churches in the neighborhood of Brooklyn. However, the present church building was constructed in 1828, with a mix the Shingle, Richardsonian Romanesque and Georgian styles of architectura. The building is made of stone and stands firm on its ground even today. Regular services and ceremonies are conducted by the church till date.
The Chester A. Arthur House was the former residence of former US President Chester A. Arthur, where he lived most of his adult life. This is also the place where he took the oath as President following the death of President Garfield. The structure is of importance as it is a surviving structure that served as a venue for a presidential inauguration. Today, the building serves as home to the Mediterranean grocery store called Kalustyan's.
