The Dixie Wing Commemorative Air Force is a fully functional World War II aircraft museum that focuses on educating people on the history and aircraft technology of the period. In addition to providing live examples of aircraft, the Air Force puts on regular events that showcase the historical airplanes in flight. In addition to highlighting the best American aircraft used during World War II, the Dixie Wing Commemorative Air Force also presents select aircraft from other countries in an effort to provide a complete educational experience for each of its visitors.

Lake Kedron

Lake Kedron is a 235-acre (95-hectare) water reservoir located in northern Peachtree that provides a relaxing getaway for visitors and Fayette County residents alike. In addition to providing the area with fresh water in times of drought, Lake Kedron is a place for people to enjoy swimming, fishing and other fun water activities.

Flat Creek Nature Area

The Flat Creek Nature Area is easily accessible from the McIntosh Trail complex. Once inside the area, there are 513 acres (207 hectares) of wetlands for you to explore. A wooden boardwalk and viewing platforms are conveniently placed to allow you to explore the wetlands without getting your feet wet!

Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater

This open-air amphitheater (known to locals as The Fred) was originally built to be the home for the famous drama The McIntosh Trail. Over the years, its purpose evolved. In the late 1980s, with the help of the City's Recreation Department, it began to hold concerts for senior citizens. Local theater groups then began to use it for their shows, as did the Atlanta Pops Orchestra. It is now most famous for the summer concerts series, where wonderful artists come out to perform for crowds that can reach 1600 people.

Sweetwater Creek State Park

Peacefully residing in Douglas County, the Sweetwater Creek State Park is a breathtaking amalgam of history, nature, and biodiversity. Located within close proximity to downtown Atlanta, this state park is a serene sanctum, offering repose from the cacophony of the city. An incredible canvas of wilderness unfolds at the park, as rolling hills, meandering trails, and emerald thickets, all come together to form an ethereal site. The agile Sweetwater Creek slices through the diversified terrains of the park, whereas an assemblage of birds croons into densely wooded expanses. Amid all the blooming ferns, azaleas and magnolias, lie the enigmatic ruins of a cotton mill run by the erstwhile New Manchester Manufacturing Company. Anchoring a placid lake, picnic spots, a museum, yurts, campsites, and playgrounds, this state park hosts a range of activities like boating, birding, hiking, camping, fishing and more. The park's visitor center has gained much praise for its environment-friendly stride, housing exhibits, displays, and maps chronicling the region's history.

Doll’s Head Trail

Threading in the heart of the urban, yet wild, Constitution Lakes Park is the eccentric, yet fascinating, Doll’s Head Trail. Dedicated to found art, this amazing trail resulted from the focused pursuits of Joel Slaton. A city carpenter, Slaton was meandering the course of the historical park, when he stumbled upon discarded doll parts. While others would disregard these pieces as crap, Slaton arranged the muddy doll heads and other parts in an interesting and interactive display of found art. Perched in trees, truck parts, bottle caps and more, the art does look creepy, but makes for an intriguing route nonetheless. Do carry a camera during your hike along the Doll’s Head Trail to document the unusual reclaimed artwork.
