Dough Pizzeria Napoletana

Dough Pizzeria Napoletana is one of San Antonio's favorite pizza spots. Pizza is cooked to perfection in an oven imported from Italy, and served in a casual atmosphere. Kids can even roll out their own pizza dough, so it's a great dining option for families. One of their most popular pies is the Pork Love, which is topped with salami, sausage, pancetta, tomato sauce, and house-pulled mozzarella. For dessert, the Nutella panini is definitely worth saving room for. Although it's on the expensive side for pizza, you get what you pay for in terms of quality and service.

Mi Tierra Cafe Y Panaderia

Located in Market Square, this San Antonio oldie-but-goodie has been a favorite of both locals and tourists since 1946. The Mexican specialties such as Chile Rellenos, Huevos Rancheros and the huge combination platters are excellent, and the atmosphere truly takes you south of the border. Nowhere else will you be serenaded by mariachis while enjoying chorizo and eggs or an eight-ounce rib eye. But be sure to have a tip ready for the entertainers; they want to enjoy a meal later as well. Finally, do not miss the panaderia (bakery) for fresh breakfast pastries, Mexican breads and sweet rolls.

The Friendly Spot

The Friendly Spot lives up to its name, providing an inviting place for patrons - and their kids and pets - to hang out. This family-friendly ice house even has a play area where parents can watch their kids play while enjoying a drink from their menu of 250 bottled beers. Dogs are welcome too, so bring the whole family and enjoy the sunshine. From time to time, you'll be treated to a movie on their huge projection screen. Their menu features tasty bar snacks like sandwiches, hot dogs, and nachos. Factor in the friendly service, and this place is perfect to enjoy a Lone Star on a beautiful day.

La Tuna Grill

This ultra-casual bar called La Tuna Grill provides the perfect backdrop for drinking a few brews, getting a little sun and seeing a lot of local color. A few tables are inside, but most of the action takes place on the patio, under a canopy of huge pecan trees. For a list of beers, ask the bartender or just look at the bottle caps blanketing the patio. Delicious food on the menu is a big draw, too. This is also a family friendly establishment, offering a kids menu.

Biga on the Banks

With a seasonal menu of creative dishes by Chef Bruce Auden, Biga on the Banks is one of San Antonio's favorite fine dining restaurants. The dining room is elegant and warm, featuring yellow and red tones and wooden sculptures throughout. Entrees are mainly American meat and seafood dishes, including the seared mahi-mahi and beef rib eye. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner. They also cater, so you can have their delicious food at your special event.

La Fonda On Main

Situated near-North side, La Fonda on Main is the oldest Mexican restaurant in Monte Vista. This restaurant offers casual dining with an authentic Mexican taste. Close to San Antonio College, La Fonda is located at the junction of Main Street and Craig Place in a modest building with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor patio is particularly festive, lit with a string of colorful lights. The entrees often include tacos and grilled chicken or steaks with authentic sauces. A full bar is available.
