This early 20th-century, New York City landmark has been serving the city since it was built. The Staten Island Borough Hall was created by Carrere & Hastings, one of the reputed architect firms of that era and is perched on a hilltop. This bricked, French Renaissance structure has a gigantic French roof and is home to various civic offices including the borough president's. This magnificent, three story building features ornate rock trimming, beautiful murals depicting various events of the Staten Island's history, Doric pillars and a high clock tower. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
The Henry Guest House was built in 1760, and continues to stand even today as a testament to the city's rich cultural and historic heritage. The house has come to be a veritable historic landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Over the years, the house has served as a meeting place, art center and museum. After almost being demolished in 1924, the house was moved to its current location the next year. Remarkably, the structure has retained much of its original appearance. The house currently serves as a community meeting space and is maintained by the New Brunswick Free Public Library.
Holmdel Community United Church of Christ was formed as a result of a merger between two congregations with roots dating back to the 17th Century. Occupying a majestic Gothic edifice constructed in 1850, the church is also one of the earliest Baptist congregations in the region. From its outreach programs and social activities to youth education, the church is actively involved in engaging with the community.
Built in 1847, Grace Church in Newark is one of the oldest places of worship in the city. The church was built in the Gothic Revival style of architecture and is considered among enthusiasts to be one of the finest of its kind in the country. Notable features of the church include the spire, the intricate sculpture work on the altar as well as the imposing organ. Built during the late 18th, the Kennedy Martin Stelle Farmstead is a study about the contemporary farming styles implemented here. The farm was named after Reverend and teacher Samuel Kennedy and Ephraim Martin, a New Jersey Legislator and war fighter.
