Riverfront Park is a 4.5-mile park by the Connecticut River. Within the park you will find the William C. Sullivan RiverFront Visitor Information Center, where you can find information, maps and brochures about the majestic Connecticut River, Springfield, and the adjoining Connecticut River Walk and Bikeway. The park is popular with joggers and bikers, on their way to or from the River Walk and bikeway.
City Stage situated in the heart of Springfield is the place to be if you want to witness comedies, dramas, musicals and other performing arts events performed by talented artists while in the city. The City Stage features the spacious Blake Theater, the smaller Winifred Arms Theater, and a lounge that plays host to small, intimate events throughout the year. Apart from these, City Stage also plays host to a wide range of conferences and meetings throughout the year making it an important event venue in the city.
The Connecticut River Walk and Bikeway is a 3.7-mile corridor running along the beautiful Connecticut River through Springfield. Stretching from the South End Bridge to Plainfield Street, the pathway passes Springfield landmarks like the Basketball Hall of Fame and Riverfront Park. The Walk and Bikeway is a great community resource for outdoor recreation.
The Springfield Armory, located in the heart of the city, is the location of one of the country's first armory and is also where the U.S. military arms were manufactured during most of the 18th Century. This significant national site is featured on the National Register of Historic Places and preserves the largest collection of historic American firearms in the world.
