Foodies from all over the world flock to this romantic jewel in the Napa Valley, considered to be one of the most outstanding restaurants in the world. The exquisite American-French food defies description or convention. Chef Thomas Keller takes care to use as much produce from the restaurant's private garden as possible, as well as making sure no ingredient is repeated anywhere on the nine-course daily tasting menus. The French Laundry's extraordinary food is exceeded only by its excellent service. Patrons are always impressed by the knowledge of the head Sommelier and enjoy the tasteful recommendations. A table at the French Laundry is a heavily coveted prize, so make sure to reserve far in advance.
An historic stone building houses this classic American steak restaurant that has received rave reviews from publications such as the San Francisco Chronicle and the Examiner. The chef at Cole's Chop House has worked and cooked with famous chefs all across the country and his entrees include a 21-Day Chicago Dry-Aged New York Strip Steak and New Zealand Lamb Chops. Throw in some excellent sides and a variety of custom martinis and you have a great steak dinner. For drama, try the flaming Bananas Foster for dessert. The wine list features mostly Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons, Zinfandels and Merlots. The service is dynamite and the place caters to locals and tourists.
Old Chef Litke has a farm—and what a farm it is! He uses the freshest of ingredients, most of which are products of this very farm—the Lobster Fennel Sausage with saffron potato salad is a must-have. In addition, there is a fine selection of wines, a cheese course for the cheese-lovers, and a special cart that comes around to each table to prepare your tea and French-press coffee before you. Come visit the lovely Farmhouse Inn Restaurant that presents the feel and the food of the country-side. The restaurant opens at 5:30p Thursday through Monday.
Press Restaurant is as famous for its view as for its meats and seafood. Trees and flowers frame the exterior, while floor-to-ceiling wine racks, huge chairs and crystal accessories add to the cozy ambiance created by the roaring fireplace indoors. The food here is as delicious as it looks—you will find yourself eating your way through roasts and grills, casseroles and delicious desserts (the Baked Alaska comes highly recommended!). The wine list is a surprise, for it features some rare vintages alongside local varietals.
