Big Cat Rescue is the largest accredited sanctuary in the world dedicated entirely to abused and abandoned big cats. They are home to over 100 lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars and other species, most of whom have been abandoned, abused, orphaned, saved from being turned into fur coats, or retired from performing acts. Their dual mission is to provide the best home they can for the cats in their care and educate the public about the plight of these majestic animals, both in captivity and in the wild, to end abuse and avoid extinction.
Water Works Park is popular as a scenic recreational spot situated in the heart of Tampa's downtown region. It is found alongside the pristine Hillsborough river and incorporates a section of the famous Tampa Riverwalk. The park is home to a dense cover of groves that provide ample shade for leisure seekers. A sprawling lawn, playground, dog-friendly area and an amphitheater also welcome crowds here. Located in downtown Tampa across the river from the University of Tampa and near Riverwalk, the Glazer Children's Museum provides plenty of fun and entertainment for children. The museum offers a full range of games, workshops and interactive exhibits. Craft activities, story time, parades, and fun fitness and aerobics are just a few of the daily programs accessible to children. Built in 1891, the hotel, with its Moorish architecture and spiraling minarets, was created as a resort for the rich and affluent. Reservations needed for groups of 10 or more.
