Constructed in 1834, this two storied home called, 'The Blackwells Mills Canal House' was built for the bridge tenders and their family. The house was a home to several tender bridges and their families. This site maintains the original integrity of the house and it displays furniture, exhibits, several household items and furnishings of the mid 19th century. A great place to learn how the bridge tenders and their families lived. The site hosts several educational events and other activities at the house.
Travel back in time by visiting the Rutgers Geology Museum, a museum that displays a collection geological articles. The building in which the museum is located is a part of the State University of New Jersey. Established in the 19th Century by Professor George H. Cook it offers a number of exhibits based fossils of dinosaurs, an Egyptian mummy and other pre-historic excavated articles. The mission of the museum is to educate the public about our pre-historic ancestors and other species.
