Ohori-koen Japanese Garden
"Old Japan Downtown"
This traditional Japanese garden was created in 1984 on the 50th anniversary of Ohori-koen's completion. Sand, rock and sculpted pine trees combine to produce an "Old Japan" feel in this, the Centre of modern Fukuoka City. Admission is via Ohori Koen from where you can admire views across the lake to the rest of the city. Other nearby attractions include the Fukuoka Museum of Modern Art, the ruins of Fukuoka Castle, and a Noh theatre.
