Happy Cock, one of Fukuoka's original gaijin gathering spots, provides food, fun and drink for over 1,000 customers each weekend. Managed by World Party, whose owner Jack Holland was one of Fukuoka's first foreign entrepreneurs and whose motto is "No Rip-offs," this bar/club starts to pump as midnight approaches. Guests are always treated to something different: drink specials, cash games, and more! Until around 11pm, the Happy Cock functions primarily as a bar. Background music is subdued enough that you can enjoy your meal or drink over conversation. After 11pm, however, the lights come on, the music kicks in, and people begin to find their groove on the dance floor. Customers tend to be in their 20s.
Enjoy an array of craft beers at Craft Beer Creek. Set in a cozy space, the bar features beer coaster on the walls, dim lighting and high ceilings, setting the mood for a pleasant experience. Not only can patrons enjoy a number of draft beers on tap, but the bar also serves brews from different corners of the world, including Belgium, the United States and Japan itself. Brews such as Lagunitas’s Cappuccino Stout, Edel Pilsner and Sapporo are extremely popular with the regulars, though other brews are quite delightful as well. German food is also served besides the beers and patrons can dig into dishes like Bratwurst and Weisswurst as well as a smattering of Tex-Mex and Latin American dishes.
Off Broadway is a foreign-owned bar one block away from Oyafuko-dori. The majority of partying Fukuokans have been there at least once--for many, it is the first bar they ever visit in Fukuoka. It is quite an international crowd, with the dance floor heating up on the weekends, when live DJs spin popular tunes. Drinks range between JPY500 and JPY800, with specials throughout the week. There is also a great Western food menu--do try the hamgburgers, and drop by for lunch as well!
Walnut is a buzzing nightclub where you can party nightly till way into the morning. Theme nights, drink offers, ladies night and more make this venue a hot-spot for clubbers. Hip-hop, R&B and EDM are the music played by their DJs which includes visiting DJs as well. If you are in the mood to party, this place is where you should be.
Set in a tiny space covering an area of only ten meter square (107.639 square feet), Ecru is a coffee shop specializing in one-of-a-kind coffees and natural wines. Not only is the selection of coffees and wines excellent, but the drinks menu also brings attention to the keen eyes of the curator. Frequented by coffee and wine enthusiasts both, the bar is also known for its peppy music and laid-back ambience besides the beverages.
JIS Fukuoka tucked away in The Shops and is a bit off touristy. This cocktail bar oozes of opulence and has an air of exclusivity and secrecy to it. Decked up with sumptuous furnishings, elegant light fixtures casting a warm glow to their rooms and luxurious cushions, this bar is where you can sit cozily and enjoy delicious drinks. There is an entrance fee charged where women are not charged for the drinks. Men can enjoy their all-you-can-drink option for a charge. Primarily focusing on singles who are out to date, they serve fruit wines, shochu and beer as well. Nosh on tasty bites while you sip on your drinks.
There are several transvestite bars and performances in Fukuoka City, but this place is perhaps the most well known (and perhaps its performers the most talented). You will never forget the evening you spent here. Inspite of the price, and its location along Oyafuko-dori, the place draws older, well-dressed clientele. VIPs, such as sumo wrestlers visiting for the Fukuoka tournament, frequently drop in.

Those feelings of nostalgia come home when you step into this restaurant/bar. Pictures and posters of Western movie actors and actresses may have you gazing at the walls more at your food orserious foul here—than your date. There are over 70 items on the menu, which change from month to month, but pizza is the specialty here. Wine drinkers should like their all-you-can drink offer, with selections from countries all over the world.
