Built in the early 20th Century, the Roosevelt Arch is a rustic-style stone arch built using columnar basalt. This 50-feet (15.24 meters) tall gateway was built to make the entry to Gardiner in Yellowstone National Park more attractive to visitors. Named after the President of the time Theodore Roosevelt, this arch features a ridged gabled roof, two arched doors and a large arched entrance for vehicles to pass. The scenic drive to the historic arch offers breathtaking views of the rocky mountains and lush scenery and if you are lucky, you might be able to spot an elk or two.
