"Historical Splendor"

Nestled in Old Town Geneva, Madeleine Church is one of the oldest Protestant churches in Switzerland. Referred to as Madeleine Kirche by the Germans and Temple de la Madeleine by the French speakers, this church serves the German-Swiss community. This church was built in the 15th Century, on a site that was home to various other religious structures since the 5th Century. In the 1600s, the church faced heavy damages due to a fire, but was restored marvelously. The church features beautiful stained glass windows designed by Alexandre Mairet in 1926. The tower-bell, that tolls by the hour, is one of the oldest in the country. Madeleine Church boasts a magnificent sound system, and is famous for the concerts conducted here.
