Treasures Of The Sea Exhibit
"Legenf of the Ship"
At Treasures of the Sea, you can go through the story behind a ship-wreck that happened almost 400 years back, by the coasts of Florida. Legend has it that the Nuestra Senora de Atocha, a Spanish galleon, succumbed to a hurricane and drowned along with the enormous amounts of gold, silver, and jewels that were being transported in it to Seville, Spain. This instigated a treasure hunt after a meticulous research about the four-centuries-old accident. Patrons can witness its sheer success in the astonishing gold and gems that have been displayed at the Museum. What’s more, the exhibits also include broken parts of the Ship that have been recovered from the waters, giving you a glimpse into the enduring materials and construction details that survive the Atocha today. A video clip takes you through the search operation, and there is also a gift shop that sells mementos and memorabilia of objects from the sea.
