Boasting of an assemblage of nearly 78 manuscripts and 4000 volumes dating back to the 16th and the 19th Century, Leighton Library houses Robert Leighton's personal collection of books. Leighton, Glasgow's archbishop and Dunblane's bishop, donated his books to the nearby Dunblane Cathedral in the 17th Century. Scotland's earliest library, Leighton Library is housed in a two-story structure with a steep surfaced roof and a part of the building dates back to the 13th Century. Volunteers guide visitors as they explore volumes of the rare collection here.
