Iglesia de San Gil y Santa Ana
"Posh weddings"
Granada's wealthy middle-classes aspire to get married in one of two churches: this one or Basílica de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias. Come on a Saturday in the late afternoon or early evening in spring and summer and you'll see a posh wedding. The Mudéjar-style ceiling is particularly impressive. Diego de Siloé designed the building in the 16th century in Renaissance-style. Its ornate plateresque façade features a doorway with a semicircular arch, three niches containing stone-carved statues of saints and a medallion with images of the Virgin and child.
