Located right off the town square of Granbury, Texas, Hood County Jail Museum also, known as the 'Old Jail Museum' – is a well-preserved museum housing authentic jail conditions of bygone eras. Built-in 1885, the structure served as the only Jail till 1978 in the region. During this period, deputies stayed in the same building as the prisoners. The deputy family took care of the meal preparation for prisoners who were held on the first floor. On the first floor, there are three rooms: one is the gallows where prisoners were executed, and the other is for the women and insane. On the main floor, visitors can see the deputy quarters.
