Campbell House

The Campbell House was the birth place of Thomas D. Campbell, Jr who was renowned in the nation as the largest wheat farmer. Built in 1879 by Scottish migrant Thomas D. Campbell, Sr and his wife, Almira Richards Campbell, this Gothic Revival log and timber structure was one of the pioneer houses along the river banks. Today it is owned and run by the Grand Forks County Historical Society, and is one of their main displays on their expansive ground. It has been a house museum since 1971 and is an ode to the pioneer women of the town. Comprising of different sections such as The Cabin, Parlor, Summer Kitchen, Master Bedroom and The Upstairs, each zone is themed and gives an insight into the life of the early settlers.
