Located in the old part of the city, Musée de l'ancien Evêché Baptistère is full of history as it traces the influence of Christianity and the rise of bishops in the Isere region. Grande Chartreuse is the head and one of nineteen Carthusian monasteries still functioning worldwide. Located in the scenic Chartreuse Mountains, surrounded by precipitous limestone peaks, mountain pastures and thick forests, the monastery comes with a rich and intriguing history. The Carthusian Order, dating from the 11th Century, was the last great monastic reform movement, and was founded in answer to the degeneration of the Cistercian Order. Practising a strictly hermit-like existence, its members live in cells and meet only for Mass and a weekly communal meal, eaten in silence.

Nestled among snowy mountains, dense forests and rich green valleys, Lac du Lauvitel is a sight to behold with its clear blue waters and stunning natural scenery. At an altitude of 1530 meters (5019.6 feet) and a surface area of 35 hectares (86.48 acres), the lake is the largest in the Isère district and provides a natural habitat for Arctic char, minnows and brown trout. The lake can be accessed via hiking trails from the town of Bourg d'Oisans.
