With something for everyone, Argyle Fine Art gallery is one of Halifax's most vibrant galleries. From paintings, drawings, photography and limited edition prints to fiber and sculpture, the gallery features works by well known Canadian artists as well as the emerging ones. Established in July 2000, they have a one of a kind selection of Canadian contemporary art which is unique to the culture and way of life there. The warm and cheerful atmosphere makes possible, a comfortable appreciation of the works on display.

The Khyber ICA, is an artist-run space featuring a great number of up-and-coming artists. Housed in a grand old Gothic building on Barrington Street, Khyber gives you an opportunity to interact with the artists and know more about the artworks. Even your little ones get their share of fun as the space is known for hosting special workshops and camps for kids.

Housed within the Dalhousie Arts Centre of the eponymous university, the Dalhousie Art Gallery holds an eclectic array of artwork across historical and contemporary categories. The gallery was formally established in 1953, and its permanent collection of eminent artwork is as old. It was retrieved through bequests, donations and purchases, and is framed for display here. Some of the oldest collections include the 'Red Bird and Red Maple', engraved by John James Audubon and a sketch by Alexander Young Jackson titled 'Georgian Bay Shore'. There is also a contemporary collection curated by upcoming artists. In an effort to advance the educational and research aspect of this program, the gallery is known to often host lectures, seminars and panel discussions in its premises.

If you are an art enthusiast, Anna Leonowens Gallery is a place you must visit while you are in Halifax. Situated in the busy area of Granville Street, this art gallery is a platform for the budding artists to showcase their art. The pieces featured here are from the student artists and faculty of the NSCAD University, as well as the guest artists The gallery features approximately 125 different exhibitions throughout the year and is a sheer treat for art lovers.
