Located in Dundas, Ontario, Desjardins Canal is the means to access the Great Lakes and Lake Ontario. Named after Pierre Desjardins, he was known for promoting the canal. Opened in 1826, the canal was greatly used for transportation purposes before the construction of the Great Western Railways in 1853.
