Virupaksha Temple

Set in the lap of the beautiful town of Hampi in Karnataka, India, Virupaksha Temple dates back to being constructed in the 7th Century. Dedicated to husband of Goddess Pampa, lord Shiva, the God of Destruction from the Hindu Trinity, this temple is one of the most sacred places of worship for the Hindus. Earlier built as a humble temple, now the Virupaksha Temple boasts of three small chambers, pillared-hall and open pillared-hall besides the main shrine. In addition, the temple is surrounded by small shrines, courtyards with finely carved sculptures and artworks.
