"19th Century Educational Museum"
Built in 1819, the Old Monroe School House is one of the oldest standing buildings in Sussex County. The building was handcrafted with stone, giving it a rustic yet vintage look and feel. The school was built when the population of the area took a steep upward curve, offering primary education to local children until 1926, after which it was used as a storage room for road tools and equipment. The building is currently under the ownership of Hardyston Heritage Society which uses it as an educational museum.
