Old Fort Harrod State Park was first established in 1927. This park features the first American settlement in the state of Kentucky and is named after James Harrod, who led the settlement into the state. Many reconstructed houses are there in the park including, cabins and a military barrack. The museum here houses some amazing artifacts of the American Civil War era. Old Fort Harrod State Park is not just a historical site; it's a living, breathing connection to Kentucky's past. Constitution Square Historic Site is a park situated in Danville, Kentucky that spreads across an area of 3 acres (0.012 square kilometers). It is also used as an open-air museum to view the various sculptures spread across the park. Set up in 1937, it was first under the Kentucky Department of Parks. Part of the land was donated to the park, and in 1942 the park was renamed John G. Weisiger Memorial State Park in honor of him. With time, the name went on to be changed to Constitution Square State Shrine and finally to Constitution Square State Historic Site. In 2012, the Department of Parks took over and finally renamed it to Constitution Square Historic Site.
The historic house of Dr. Ephraim McDowell was converted into a museum in 1935 by a group of doctors who purchased the home belonging to the legend. McDowell House Museum showcases the life of the Doctor, a superior surgeon of his time, and his intricately crafted home, office, and gardens. The architecture is early Gregorian, and most of the furnishings are intact and or restored. Do stop by the apothecary shop, located next door. The shop has antique apothecary ware from the 18th and 19th centuries. Tours are held that describe his life and his life-saving surgery conducted in one of his bedrooms.

The Beriah Magoffin Monument is located in the Spring Hill Cemetery of Harrodsburg, Kentucky and is built to commemorate the 21st Governor of Kentucky. Beriah Magoffin sought to maintain neutrality for Kentucky when the Civil War started, however was forced to resign by the pro –Union forces. The monument was dedicated around 1900. Atypical of the monuments built in 1900, Magoffin’s portrait is draped in toga significant of the neoclassical style. On the 17th of July of 1997 the Beriah Magoffin Monument was added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Civil War Monuments of Kentucky Multiple Property Submission.
