"Historic Stone House"
Located at the Jillson Square Park, the William Jillson Stone House is one of the most well-known historic house museums in the city. Built in the year 1825, the house was constructed for William Jillson, a native resident and one of the first people to purchase industrial water rights at the Willimantic Falls. The two story house was constructed using local granite and is popular as a rare stone house in the area. Now operated by the Windham Historical Society, the William Jilson Stone House doubles up as a local history museum allowing patrons to learn more about the house’s past as well as the area’s history. William Jillson Stone House was also listed in the U.S National Register of Historic Places in the year 1971.
