Hill climbers can access Beinn Dorain from the town's railway station where a road leads up till the mountain pass which separates the mountain from the nearby Beinn an Dothaidh. Duncan Ban MacIntyre, a noted Scottish poet praises Beinn Dorain in his ballad Moladh Beinn Dòbhrainn.
