Richardson Ocean Park

A short drive from downtown Hilo is this special beach park. It is nothing like the ones you may see on the postcards, nor the ones that collect tourists to the resorts; Richardson's Ocean park is a wonderful place for snorkelling. It is an award winning beach, rated by islanders as the best beach park on the island. This park offers a rocky shoreline, clear water teeming with fish, lots of shade, gray sand and lots of area locals and families. It's a place where everyone knows each other or may even be related to one another. It's open from dawn to dusk and comes complete with restrooms, a lifeguard, picnic tables and a shower.
