"Tracking The Aboriginals"
The Truganini Track pays homage to the last descendant of the venerable Tasmanian Aboriginals. The trailhead at Cartright Creek ascends into a climb that takes you through dense and bushy sclerophyll forests, with each step revealing precious forest fauna. As you climb uphill, the foliage turns drier as opposed to the lower marshy ground, and beautiful flowers such as orchids, wildflowers and the flag iris turn up to greet you. Once you near the pinnacle, just before the Mount Nelson Signal Station, stop by the Truganini Memorial to pay respects to the aboriginals. Lastly, enjoy stunning views of the majestic Tasmanian Peninsula before you begin your descend.
