"Quaker Tradition in Hobart"
The Religious Society of Friends, known also as the Quakers, are a well-established facet of Hobart life. The Friends' School, a prestigious educational establishment, and the Cadbury's Factory are legacies of the Society's influence on Tasmanian culture. The need for a humane point of view in a harsh penal settlement saw the Friends settle in the early days of the colony. Social justice issues are still of critical importance today. Meetings held at the Friends' Meeting House, will welcome friends from elsewhere or interested observers.
