"Right Royal Competition"
Hobart Tennis Club is located in former stables in Davey Street. Built in 1875, the Hobart court was the first in Australia. Royal Tennis had its origins in the streets, monasteries and chateaux of France as early as the 13th century. The game reached England in the mid 14th century but it was not until 1599 that they recorded the rules. Today Hobart has many top players, several of whom have been world champions.
