Liu Man Shek Tong Ancestral Hall
"Family History Unveiled"
Way back in the 14th century, the Liu clan came from Fujian province to settle in Sheung Shui. By the mid 1700s, the family had become powerful and built an ancestral hall to display their good fortune. The wall at the far end of this hall is lined with name tablets that pay homage to Liu ancestors through the centuries. Surrounding this shrine are painted murals, wood-carvings, stone sculptures and ceramic decorations. Neighbouring narrow streets are lined with a mix of the old and the new, and the incessant clacking sound of mah-jong games can be heard everywhere!
