Located about 90 minutes from Honolulu, this large leeward shoreline park is a wonderful sunny area for picnics, swimming, surfing and more. With lots of parking along with restrooms, lifeguards, picnic tables and showers,Maili Beach Park attracts area locals for weekend picnicking, parties and other outdoor events. The winter brings harsh strong surf which is not recommended for novice swimmers and surfers. However, the summer brings a wide, soft sandy shoreline and great swimming in some areas. The drop-off is quite sudden along most of the beach park, so it's not a good spot for wading or children.

Tucked away close to the lighthouse, Makapu’u Tide Pools are slightly off the trails of the Makapu’u lighthouse. A great place to swim, there are pools that run a few feet (metres) deep. It is peppered with geysers that intermittently shoot up hot water and vapor in the air. One of the blowholes up there is named Dragon's breath because of the heated air it shoots up. At the calmer sections you see plenty of fish, crabs and other sea life in the water.
Kalihi is a historical neighborhood in Honolulu, Hawaii. The area is divided by Likelike Highway and the Kalihi Stream and is currently a mainstream residential area with numerous historical building. Kalihi is a planned area with numerous educational and employment facilities and is a popular tourist destination as well. With a diverse range of flora and fauna and due to the abundance of fishponds and natural springs here, the area was used as a Leprosy Receiving Station.
