Stretched along the banks of the Columbia River, The Dalles is a quaint gem of Wasco County. Exuding quintessential Old West charm, this town has served as a safe haven for pioneers heading down the azure river. Reflecting and preserving past glory of the town are attractions such as Fort Dalles Museum and the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum. During your sojourn here, do take a picture by the imposing Old St. Peter's Landmark and visit the sprawling Sorosis Park for a splendid time with family and loved ones.
A former Courthouse now visited as a historic museum preserves the original building constructed in 1859, exhibits objects and research materials depicting the history of Wasco County and also forms a venue for local history presentations. The building is a monumental structure built of blond brick and granite. It is a registered National Historic site in Oregon managed by the Wasco County Historical Society.
