IIA is located 52 kiliometers west of Seoul, a journey that takes about 60 minutes by train. Completed in March 2001 on 5,610 hectares of reclaimed land, IIA is one of the largest and most modern airports in Asia. Measuring 1,055 by 149 meters, with four stories above ground and two below, the passenger terminal is one of the biggest in the world. It provides all the state-of-the-art facilities that make leaving or arriving in the country a pleasant experience, including business centers, shops, restaurants and hotels. Incoming travelers pass through the Baggage Claim and Customs on the first floor to Passport Control on the second floor. Inside the concourse there are banking and exchange facilities as well as restaurants shops for those who need to pick things up before heading into Seoul. There are four parking areas that accommodate almost 15,000 vehicles, with 5,000 spaces available for short-term parking in the transportation center in the underground floors. The easiest way into Seoul is by limousine bus. Buses leave every 10-20 minutes for major destinations in the city. here are 23 restaurants in the passenger terminal ranging from fast-food outlets offering hamburgers and simple noodles to top-class Korean and Chinese restaurants. There are also Western-style and Asian restaurants, ice-cream parlors, coffee shops and cocktail bars. Convenience stores provide take-out food, including local specialties, sandwiches and lunch boxes. All major airlines are serviced.
