Civic Theatre

The Civic Theatre was originally constructed in 1906 to serve as Invercargill's Town Hall, and housed the city's municipal offices alongside a theater and lecture rooms. The magnificent Edwardian complex was later transformed into a popular performing arts and events venue; furnished with modern technological capabilities, including an excellent fly system, air conditioning and a state of the art sound system. Nevertheless, the venue remains a historic site of National significance, and is a unique combination of Edwardian design and modern technological features. The Civic Theatre is ideal for concerts, theater and other live performances, but accommodates conferences, weddings and private events with equal ease.
