Maiden Stone


"Magnificent Stone Site"

Made up of red granite and a little more than 3.01 meters (9.88 feet) tall, the Maiden stone is in Aberdeenshire in Scotland. Built probably around the ninth century, the maiden stone is associated with a folk tale. According to the folk tale the stone is actually a woman that was turned into a stone by god when he was running away from the Devil trying to save herself after losing a bet. There are various religious symbols on the stone.
